Interests

Professor Cassiers has long taught Economics and Macroeconomics at UCL, where she currently teaches a course on the History of Economic and Social Development and leads a topical seminar. For thirty years (1975-2005), her scientific research was dedicated to economic and social history. Since 2006, she has devoted herself to interdisciplinary research on the theme of Redefining prosperity (Routledge 2014), with particular attention to the issue of indicators “beyond GDP”. This has led her to spend recently several weeks in Bhutan, a country where the Gross National Happiness challenges the Gross National Product.

Her numerous publications, conferences, media interventions, and her involvement in various networks testify to her commitment to a more just society that respects the limitations of the Earth and the beings that inhabit it.
